Who We Are…

History

The Founder’s Background

It is said that a company’s values are recognizable by those of its leader. Thus, we cannot talk about the company without sketching out a quick portrait of the founder who runs it.

AMANA Multilingual Translators and Interpreters inc. is managed by Claudie Hammana, a translator-interpreter who has lived all the world over: in Africa, in Asia, in Europe and in North America.

As a former medicine (France) and biology (Montreal) student, Claudie Hammana developed a passion for foreign languages and cultures, which has been nourished by her extended stays in various countries, and wanted to make the most of her enriching experience. Thus it came about one day that she took the firm decision to make a career in translation. She completed her studies in 1987 with a degree in Specialized Trilingual Translation (medicine, law, computer science, administration and business) from the University of Paris VIII and the New Sorbonne (Paris III). These studies were later complemented by courses in marketing management (HEC). Clearly, Claudie Hammana is the type of person who works towards excellence in everything she undertakes.

Company's Founding

It was at university that Claudie Hammana developed a sixth sense making her realize the unavoidable importance of the field of communication in the coming decade, thinking without the slightest doubt that she took the right direction. Claudie Hammana, who already treasured the idea of going into business, carried out her plans January 1990.

She chose Canada as a permanent place to expand professionally and founded a company which was first called Traduction et services C.H. (1990) and later Hammana & Traducteurs multilingues (1992). Claudie Hammana deliberately entered into all aspects of her profession as a translator, a court interpreter and a writer. All this was strengthened by her accreditation by several organizations in the Canadian Government, including the Federal Secretary of State, the Supreme Court of Canada and the Quebec trial courts.

In fact, this close involvement in all fields pertaining to language was necessary, sharpening her senses to later enable her to detect the strong and weak points of her language service providers.

Never flagging in her steady perseverance, this child of the four corners of the earth had to break up the first two companies, which did not at all reflect her vision of long term expansion and established AMANA Multilingual Translators and Interpreters inc. on September 20, 1995. Each part of its logo is the successful incarnation of this vision.

Since the emergence of Internet in 1995, we have been living in a world of powerful digital economy and commercial exchanges carried out on a global scale. Does the present global interrelationship not prove her right?

AMANA, which by the way means "Honesty", values solid business relationships, guided by the win-win principle and based on openness, absolute confidentiality as well as attentive listening to both client and language service provider. After all, this is the essence of any PARTNERSHIP.
